In addition to his academic side, Gon\u00e7alo combines an entrepreneurial side with a relevant international network. We believe that with his help, Basinnov will be able to work in disruptive projects with an impact on society.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><p>Gon\u00e7alo Bernardes graduated in Chemistry at the University of Lisbon in 2004, having later moved to the University of Oxford (United Kingdom), where, under the guidance of Prof. Ben Davis, completed his PhD in 2008. He was awarded a Marie-Curie fellowship as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Prof. Peter H. Seeberger in Zurich (Switzerland) and, after a short period in Portugal, he returned to Zurich to join the group of Prof. Dario Neri as an EMBO fellow, where he developed new anticancer antibody-drug conjugates that specifically target tumour vasculature.<\/p><p>In 2013, he was awarded a Royal Society University Research Fellowship and started his independent group at Cambridge. He was appointed as a University Lecturer in June 2018 and promoted to Full Professor of Chemical Biology in 2022. From 2013 to 2022, he juggled the laboratory at Cambridge with a Translational Chemical Biology laboratory at Instituto de Medicina Molecular in Lisbon.<\/p><p>His scientific interests focus on the use of chemical principles to address biological problems such as fighting cancer. He has published over 175 articles and is an entrepreneur and co-founder of several Technology companies, including TargTex (a company with which Basi made an investment agreement in 2022).
